It's Through Giving We Receive...

I must admit I am a bit of a self development addict and throw myself into books and programs that in essence are to help you become a better person. Some people, friends included, sneer at such investment but I love it and think if more people spent time becoming better people, surely the community and the world we live in should improve? In any case a common denominator in most of my learnings has been how good it is for us to "give". One book sorted people into 3 categories, Givers, Takers and Matchers. The givers do things for others with no expectation of a return favour. The takers take with no effort to "return the favour" and matchers are happy to give but are pre meditated in that they will call on or expect that effort back at some stage. Giving can often be in the simplest of ways and leaves you feeling good about yourself. Whether its shouting the next random person at the cafe a coffee through to anonymous donations of large sums of money, these acts of giving creates the same positive energy. Some years ago I decided to "give" blood. This, once you fill out an interesting survey and become accustomed to that little 'prick", is again a simple enough process. The fact that each donation has the ability to "give" in the ultimate way of saving lives is extremely powerful yet The Blood Bank are often campaigning for more donors. For me the ability to give what you can and perhaps from the space you are within is a good place to start. During last years lockdown we ran "Feed Your Favourites" which called on the community to nominate people who may appreciate some donated meals. We are really pumped to announce that this has returned and will remain every week. Please visit our website to find out more, www.theflyinghorse.com.au In the meantime I would challenge you to think about what you could "give" over this next week albeit something small. Perhaps it will be simply nominating someone in our program. To those who are already giving, keep it up, I know you would be already enjoying the benefits.
